Ningbo economy keeps a healthy growth

Economy in Ningbo is growing at a relatively high speed. Under the new economy, the total GDP of Ningbo reached 760.251 billion yuan in 2014, up 7.6%. The growth was climbing season after season at a relatively high speed, stable and reasonable. The proportion of added value of service industry set a record high; the growth of people’s income overtakes that of GDP; more job opportunities are created; the ecology and people's well-being keeps improving.
On the morning of Jan. 27, Ningbo Municipal Government held a press conference on the social and economic development of Ningbo in 2014. According to the strategy and plan of “double drives and 4 treatments”, Ningbo has implemented the three-year transformation development of economy and society and have made remarkable achievements.
After experiencing the international financial crisis, the economy in Ningbo has already developed into a new form earlier than the country. The double digit growth has already stopped several years ago. The recent years has witnessed a relatively high increase: 7.8% in 2012; 8.1% in 2013; 7.6% in 2014. As experts explained such growth can support the constant and healthy development of economy and society on the one hand, and win time and space for the reform and innovation, transformation and upgrading, and quality improving on the other hand. In the annual report, there are many new highlights, new developments and new breakthroughs. Firstly, the growth of added value of tertiary industry or service sector has climbed to 44.6%, a record high. The industrial transformation is speeding up. Especially, the strategic emerging industry like advanced equipment industry is developing rapidly. For example, the added value of automobile industry reached 23.29 billion yuan, up 31.9%.
The essence of development is to improve people's well-being and create more job opportunities. More jobs were created. 175 thousand jobs were increased in the city and towns in 2014. In other words, 1% growth of the local GDP will provide about 23 thousand jobs. The income statistics is the best evidence. The per capita disposable income of city people and rural people was respectively 44155 yuan and 24283 yuan, up 9.2% an 11%. Since 2012, the increase of people's income has overtaken the economic growth and financial income growth. Besides, the energy-consumption and the emission of major pollutants have been greatly reduced.
