Shanghai-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway to be built

Recently, the Shanghai-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway, as a part of the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway network, has been listed among the national development plan for railway construction and has launched the pre-construction research. Currently, the survey and design work of the railway has been well under way.
As a major high-speed railroad across the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the railway will enhance the position of Ningbo railway hub in the national railway network on a large scale. Upon completion, it will greatly shorten the distance between Ningbo and such major cities as Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing, and reduce the travel time and cost for passengers. It will also include Ningbo in the one-hour traffic circle of Shanghai, and shorten the time from Ningbo to Beijing within five hours.
With a total investment of over 30 billion yuan, the Shanghai-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway will start from South Jiaxing Railway Station, cross Hangzhou Bay Bridge, and then connect the Ningbo railway hub. With the designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the railway is a standard specialized passenger railroad, and will be completed in five years. It is connected with the specialized passenger railroad between Shanghai and Hangzhou, the planned Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo Railway, and the Shanghai-Zhapu-Hanghzou Railway to the north, and with the specialized passenger railroad between Hangzhou and Ningbo, the Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Railway, the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway under construction and the planned Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway.
The new railway is an important part of the passenger channel of the coastal railway, which is the backbone of the national high-speed railway network, the southern extension part of the NO.2 passage of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, as well as an important railway hub of the city cluster of the Yangtze River Delta area. Upon completion, the railway will accelerate the building of the national passenger channel of the coastal railway and improve the comprehensive traffic network of the Yangtze River Delta area or even the whole country. It will also enhance the flexibility of the high-speed railway network, improve transportation quality and efficiency and alleviate the pressure of the transportation capacity of such major trunk railways as the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway. Meanwhile, it will play a significant role in promoting the construction of the "big bay, big garden, big channel and metropolitan area" in Zhejiang Province, accelerate Ningbo's construction as a node city of the "Belt and Road" area, and build Ningbo the "economic center of the southern wing of Yangtze River Delta area"
