Cultural industry parks create win-win situation

Cultural industry parks in Ningbo have developed a lot over the past few years, with the environment constantly optimized and a new development pattern (intensive, depending on bases and large-scale) formed. So far there have been over 20 cultural innovation industry parks, including such state-level cultural industry parks as the national original animation industry center, Ningbo Hefeng Creative Square, Ningbo University Science Park and Ningbo Software and Service Outsourcing Industry Park, forming such cultural creative industry clusters as film and TV production, performance and entertainment, software and computer service, advertising and conference & exhibition, animation design and performance, industrial design and arts and crafts. Great achievements have been made in terms of development scale and talent force in animation industry and gaming industry base.

Cultural industry parks demonstrating clustering effects

It is reported that the Ningbo Municipal Government has been actively building development platforms fro cultural and creative industry clusters. From 2007 to 2009, an annual fund of 20 million yuan has been allocated from the special funds for designs established by the government to speed up the industrial design projects and construction creative streets. A large number of cultural and creative industrial parks have sprung up due to the large-scale development of cultural and creative industries.

China Mould City Expo to be held

The 9th China Mould City Exposition will be held in Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Center from May 24 to 27.

With 1500 booths, the exposition attracts over 600 enterprises from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Italy and other countries and regions to exhibit over  1000 sets of advanced machine tool equipments of all top brands.

Invention & innovation competition held

The 9th session of Ningbo invention & innovation competition has started, themed on "innovations creating dynamic city, inventions demonstrating smart Ningbo". With a total prize value of nearly 950,000 yuan, both the total amount and individual awards will reach the record high.

This year's session will cut down the number of awards and thus increase individual prize values to attract more projects and improve the quality of items. It is understood that the competition will set up more than 140 awards, including 30 awards for inventions, with the top prize of 150,000 yuan, 30 awards for designs, with the top prize of 50,000 yuan, and 60 500-yuan-worth awards for those entering the finals. Besides, 10 stars of invention will the awarded 10,000 yuan each, and ten spectaculars with keen attention will be awarded 500-yuan worth of prizes.

The candidates of the competition should be those invention patents, utility patents, or design patents that have been approved over the past two years. The organizer encourages the participation of those patents in such strategic emerging industries as new materials that can strengthen innovation driving effects and accelerate economic transformation and development. The date of the approval statement of the items should fall in the period from June 16, 2011 to June 15, 2013.

The competition will be jointly sponsored by Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and the Administrative Committee of Ningbo National High-tech Zone, and hosted by the Administration and Service Center of Ningbo R & D Park, Ningbo Productivity Promotion Center, and Ningbo Intellectual Property Development and Research Center

Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed rail to put into operation

It is learned from departments concerned that the adjustment of the Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed rail is to complete and it will enter the stage of trial operation in late May. Meanwhile, to alleviate its impact on the lives of residents along the railway, the sound barriers will be installed on both sides of the section from Zhuangqiao Station to Ningbo East Railway Station. 
The train routes of the high-speed rail have not been finalized so far, but it is for sure that both the G-type and D-type trains will be running on the rail, with the speed of 300km per hour for G-type trains and 200km per hour for D-type ones. Besides, the direct non-stop train from Ningbo to Hangzhou will be opened. At the same time, some trains will only stop at some major stations along the rail.
The last stop of the Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed rail is Zhuangqiao Station, the original route will be adopted from which to Ningbo East Railway Station. The current trains (including both for freight and passengers) run at a maximum speed of 120km per hour. When the high-speed rail is put into operation, the trains will still run at 120km per hour in this section. In addition, to minimize the impact of the high-speed trains on the residents along the rail, sound barrier equipments will be installed on both sides of the existing lines between Zhuangqiao Station and Ningbo East Railway Station.

"Ningbo Week" to be held in Nanjing

According to Ningbo Municipal Economic Cooperation Office, the 2013 "Ningbo Week" activity will be held in Nanjing in late May. A series of activities including investment promotion, industrial docking and talent recruitment will be organized to further publicize Ningbo to attract businessmen of Zhejiang or Ningbo origin to return for investments.
Since the beginning of this year, in order to promote economic transformation and upgrading, Ningbo has increased contact with the outside businessmen of Zhejiang and Ningbo origin through a variety of ways. The city gives full play to their advantages in the capital, social relations and networks by providing platforms and improving services, and thus has gained great achievements in attracting investments from returned entrepreneurs. Statistics show that in the first quarter, Ningbo has newly introduced 34 returned projects with the actual funds of 2.896 billion yuan. The fund in place reaches 7.16 billion yuan (including 4.264 billion yuan from the 88 carry-over projects last year), up by 27.8% over the same period last year.

Ningbo mobile phone export soars

With the popularization of the 3G network and various application software, the mobile phone industry in Ningbo grows dramatically in 2013. Statistics from Ningbo Customs show that in the first quarter, Ningbo exported 688,000 mobile phones, up by 350% over the same period last year. With the total value of US$9.941 million, an increase of 93.4%, the average price of the mobile phones stood at US$14.4, down by 57.3%.

Reportedly, the major target markets for mobile phone export include India and Hong Kong, with the volume of 324,000 and 267,000 respectively, up by 1510% and 210% respectively over the same period last year. In addition, the number of exported mobile phones to the EU reached 96,000, up by 473.4 times. According to the statistics, the increasing competition in the market forced the mobile phone enterprises to adopt the low-price strategy to gain more international market shares, resulting in the significant drop of average prices of exported mobile phones.
