On the afternoon of August 31, on the third floor of the Imported Goods Center of Ningbo International Convention & Exhibition Center, a meeting was held between the heads of such departments as Ningbo Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau,. Ningbo Development and Reform Commission, Ningbo Bureau of National Land and Resources, Ningbo Customs and Ningbo Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and representatives from foreign-trade enterprises, in order to solve the urgent problems confronting the enterprises in their development. Vice-mayor Hong Jiaxiang attended the meeting.
From June to August, Ningbo launched the service month activities for foreign-trade enterprises, and the related departments of all levels carried out a series of measures to help the foreign-trade enterprises to attain their goals by attracting more orders and promoting transformation. As the climax of the activity, yesterday's meeting aims to solve the common problems confronting the enterprises and carry out the on-site coordination for such problems as construction land using and export tax rebate for certain foreign-trade enterprises.

On September 1, the list of the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2012 was released in Changchun. Eight Ningbo enterprises rank among the top 500, the same result as in last year. In addition, 12 Ningbo enterprises are listed among the top 500 manufacturing enterprises and 25 Ningbo enterprises are listed among the top 500 service enterprises.
According to the list jointly released by China Enterprise Federation and China Entrepreneur Association, Sinopec is still the No.1 for eight years in a row with the total revenue of 2.55 trillion yuan, followed by CNPC, State Grid, ICBC, CBC, China Mobile, ABC, BOC, CSCEC and CNOOC.
It is learned that the total revenue of the top 500 enterprises reaches 44.9 trillion yuan, with all the shortlisted enterprises having the revenue of over 17.51 billion yuan, an increase of 3.31 billion yuan over the previous year.
Among the eight Ningbo enterprises shortlisted among the top 500, four enterprises rank significantly higher than the previous year, three enterprises decline in ranking and one remains the same. In terms of revenue, in 2011 the eight enterprises realized the total revenue of 215.74 billion yuan, an increase of 39.219 billion yuan or 22.22% over the previous year. The revenue of Youngor Group, Aux Group, Jintian Group and Grand Group Corporation respectively surpasses 30 billion yuan.
12 Ningbo enterprises are listed among the top 500 Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Besides the five of the eight enterprises listed in the top 500 Chinese enterprises (except Grand Group Corporation, Future Investment Co. Ltd. and Yinyi Group Company), seven more enterprises are shortlisted. They are Veken Group Co. Ltd., Evergreen Group, Lishi Group, Haitian Plastics Machinery, Shenzhou International Group Holdings Limited, Beyond Group and Huaxiang Group.
The threshold value of revenue for enterprises shortlisted in the top 500 Chinese service enterprises is 2.27 billion yuan, up by 15.1% over the previous year. This year, 25 Ningbo enterprises are listed in the top 500, ranking among the leading cities in China. Specifically speaking, Grand Group Corporation ranks No.95 with the total annual revenue of 31.286 billion yuan. And four other enterprises rank among the top 200, including Yinyi Group Company (No.120), China-Base Ningbo Foreign Trade Co. Ltd. (No.146), Ningbo Sunhu Chemical Products Co. Ltd. (No.155) and East-China Material Market Group (No.200).

News from Ningbo Customs said that 15,000 passenger cars worth of US $94.59 mln were exported from Ningbo Port in the first seven months of this year, up by 1.5 times and 1.9 times respectively against the same period of last year. The average price was US $6,306 per car, an increase of 18 percent year on year.
It is learned that the export of fuel-saving cars also rocketed this year. All of them were exported via trade pattern. The main style is gasoline cars with a displacement of less than 1.5 liters. The total amount of export is 12,000, up by 1.2 times against the same period of last year and accounting for 80 percent of the total export volume. Gasoline cars with a displacement of more than 1.5 liters and less than 3.0 liters saw the quickest increasing speed, with a sum of 2,189 cars, up by 8 times. State-owned enterprises were the main exporters with an export number of 14,000, an increase of 146.7 percent year on year and accounting for 93.5 percent of the total. While private enterprises also exported 976 cars, up by 142.8 percent.
A relative officer of Ningbo Customs revealed that the target market of Ningbo Port still centered in developing countries with low and middle end markets. The main export places were Russia, Ukraine, White Russia, Brazil, Vietnam, Chile, Iran, Egypt and Iraq and so on.

China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC) published the ranking list of the most competitive county-level cities (2012) lately. Cixi was rated the eighth with a final score of 90.34.
The first city on the list is Kunshan City of Jiangsu Province, followed by Jingyin City, Zhangjiagang City, Changshu City, Wujiang City, Jinjiang City and Yixing City, all of which except Jinjiang City (Fujian Province) are cities of Jiangsu Province. Zhuji of Zhejiang Province ranked the tenth, while Shaoxing the 12th, Yiwu 14th and Yuyao 18th.
It is learned that the evaluation index system includes economic, social, environmental and cultural systems, with economic competitiveness, industrial competitiveness and financial competitiveness and other seven first level indicators, 50 second indicators as well as 217 third level indicators.
CICC is the first institute made up of over one hundred experts, scholars and researchers from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao as well as from abroad who share the common ambition of studying the development of Chinese cities and improving their competitiveness.
