Science and Technology Authorities Making Efforts to Introduce Brains

In order to further enhance the cooperation and communication among the enterprises of Cixi city and three universities in Northeast China, a group of 24 people, including officials from the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and industrialists from machinery manufacturing, industries of metallurgy and chemistry, electronic information, and new material and some other areas, went to Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University and Shenyang Ligong University to carry out business order canvassing activities. And they made some achievements by reaching agreement upon 5 initial cooperation programs.  

Science and technology have great potentials in canvassing business orders and introducing talented people is as important as introducing capital to our city. Faced with the situation that the economic transformation and upgrading of Cixi deepens, the Science and Technology Bureau attaches great importance to business order canvass and talent introduction and actively guides local companies to introduce and bring in talented people as many as possible to achieve a win-win cooperation. Since several institutions of some Chinese universities settled in the Cixi Collaborative Innovation Institute, the bureau has organized related enterprises to visit those universities many times to find opportunities for a win-win relation in forms of introducing scientific and technological achievements and satisfying the needs of those companies and those universities. This year, the bureau has held more than 15 business order canvassing activities in which more than 600 ventures have participated.    
Relying on the platform of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Cixi endeavors to bring in those high-tech projects with strong industry driving abilities that fit the needs of those newly-rising industries in Cixi. An example is that Cixi Biomedical Engineering Institute has introduced the R&D resources of the Medtronic Company which is a global leader in manufacturing implantable medical devices and set up a R&D center with the company to develop the industry of biomedical new materials. The Cixi Technology Transfer and Transformation Center had some discussion on 2 newly-rising industries projects of CAS which has now been approved by experts. Cixi Valley of Wisdom has brought in Science and Technology Service Department, Software Research and Development Department, Technology Incubator Department and some other departments. The settlement of Intertek Group, a world’s leading international commercial inspection agency, has provided those manufacturers of household appliances in our city with testing and inspection services of high qualities. 
Research institutes with strong technological strength of those universities provide many options to Cixi enterprises to introduce those talented people. The lightweight magnesium alloy and fiber-reinforced hollow fiber membranes of Harbin Engineering University, new insulation efficient ceramic coating of Shenyang Ligong University and some other achievements of science and technology attracted the interest of those industrialists. A variety of sophisticated equipment and the results of the advanced scientific researches dazzled the visitors. 
Cixi strives to improve the technological management by bringing in talented people. Zhejiang University of Technology, together with Kuangyan town, invited Professor lu Jianxia, a senior expert of IE management from ZUT, to train those business leaders and technology backbone on how to achieve lean production management and effective IE management. In addition, the city held four patent management training activities consecutively which have cultivated 360 patent experts for 250 companies in total, which greatly increased those ventures’ capabilities to create, manage, run and protect their patents.
