The 1st Ningbo-US Educational Cooperation & Exchange Meeting was held in Milwaukee, the biggest city and lake port in Wisconsin State on September 10. At the meeting, 13 educational cooperation agreements were signed, including those between Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Education and the Milwaukee School of Wisconsin University, between Zhejiang Wanli University and Northern Illinois University, and between Ningbo High School and Solomon High School. The delegates from two sides communicated with each other and discussed about related projects.

The United States have always been an important partner for Ningbo in the field of educational cooperation. By promoting constant cooperation, launching innovative models and expanding cooperative fields, the two parties have made significant achievement in such fields as cooperative education, student (and teacher) exchange and research cooperation. In 2013, Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Education signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Washington D. C. Education Bureau at the Sino-US Educational Cooperation & Exchange Meeting held in Ningbo. So far, universities in Ningbo have established cooperative relationship with 75 American educations, and 12 pairs of primary or middle schools have become sister schools. There are now more than 10 educational cooperation projects and over 100 exchange projects.

Next, Ningbo will work with related US colleges and universities in the following aspects in the field of education to achieve breakthroughs in educational exchanges between the two places. Firstly, the long-term Ningbo-Milwaukee Educational Cooperation & Exchange Platform will be established. The platform can serve as a bridge for exchange and cooperation between schools and colleges in the two places through enlarged scale, innovative patterns and expanded fields. It is also hoped that US schools and colleges will organize exchange activities in Ningbo. Secondly, the Sino-US co-schooling platform will be established. The US colleges and universities are encouraged to carry out co-schooling projects in Ningbo to share the educational resources between the two places and cultivate creative talents for the economic and social development. Thirdly, the exchanges and cooperation platform will be established for two-way communication and training programs for teachers, who will be encouraged to conduct research cooperation projects. Meanwhile, the research & production platform between educational institutions and enterprises will be established to provide services for enterprises in the two places. And lastly, the bi-directional communication platform for students will be established. Special scholarship for overseas students from the US will be set up to attract the US students to Ningbo for learning and training, so that the students from the two places can have better mutual understanding and deeper communication.
