Faculty training class for KAB project opened in Ningbo

On the morning of April 17, a teachers' training class for the KAB project opened in Ningbo Institute of Technology of Zhejiang University. The class has 35 students from institutions of higher learning in Ningbo and people from the College Graduates Business Park of Ningbo.

The training class aims to train a team of qualified people who are capable of guiding and supporting more college graduates to establish their businesses. In the five-day class, the trainees will receive systematic trainings in theory and practice. Those who pass the examinations will get the certificate of completion of courses authorized by All-China Youth Federation and International Labor Organization. Those who are engaged in business training for 36 hours will be awarded the certificate for the lecturer of the KAB project.

It is reported that Ningbo will strengthen the construction of the College Graduates Business Park and provide college students more opportunities for practice in business establishment. It will encourage colleges and business parks to play a greater role in the education and guidance of the college graduates in business establishment. It will involve authorities of institutions of human resources and entrepreneurs of middle and small enterprises in giving guidance and support to college graduates in their business establishment.

Practice base of education modernization settled in Beilun

The practice base of localized promotion of education modernization attached to Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences, the first of its kind in China, was unveiled in Beilun District yesterday. Yuan Zhenguo, President of CAES, Shi Xilin, Deputy-secretary of Party Committee of CAES, Vice-mayor Cheng Yuechong and Chen Dashen, Vice-chairman of Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPPCC attended the meeting.

According to the cooperation plan of the practice base, CAES will work for the balanced development, high quality, informationization and internalization of the education in the district. On the basis of the six projects such as the construction of demonstrative high school, the employment of eminent headmasters or teachers, the monitoring of the level of balanced quality education, Sino-foreign education cooperation, the construction of smart education information system and the establishment of well-known brands for education modernization, CAES is to promote the district to the position of qualified education modernization district, pilot area of education informationization, education reform and education internalization as well as demonstrative area for learning-oriented society in Zhejiang Province

Sample life and studies at unique UK university in China

Thousands of high school pupils and their parents are expected to visit The University of Nottingham Ningbo China on Sunday 8 April to sample life and studies at the unique UK university campus in China.

 The University opens its doors once a year to visitors who want to find out more about its degree programmes and career paths for its graduates.

Individuals have the opportunity to tour the attractive park-like campus and many of its world-class facilities, including its library, and meet lecturers and tutors at the annual Open Day.

 Leading academics give talks on a range of topics, from international business strategy to the world of artificial intelligence, to give students a taste of the exciting content they can expect to cover on The University of Nottingham’s degree courses delivered here in China.

 This year many final-year high school pupils have reserved seats to participate in interactive seminars, including French for beginners and a primer on economic growth.

Ningbo college students win robot competition in U.S.

The 19th Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest was held at Trinity College, Connecticut, in the United States over the last weekend. A Chinese team from Ningbo University of Technology (NBUT) achieved outstanding results. One contestant named Lin Haojie received the third prize in the Olympic Knowledge Competition, which was one division of the contest.

A total of 164 teams representing countries including the United States, Indonesia, Canada etc. participated in the contest. The contest offered prizes in several divisions which were further divided into junior grads, high school, senior and walking (any age). A total of 48 teams, including a team from Pennsylvania State University, participated the senior and walking division. The contest included a poster competition, an Olympic knowledge competition, and fire fighting competition. For non-English contestants, the Olympic knowledge competition is not only a test of the robotics, but also a test of English comprehension, which is even more difficult.

The NBUT team is composed of teachers and students from the college of Mechanical Engineering. As the only Chinese team, the team won first prize in last year's contest. Lin Haojie got the fifth place in fire fighting competition, and Du Kefang and Dong Chunlei got the sixth.
