Ningbo, Zhejiang university start new co-op program

Ningbo started the "9211 Special Talent Support Program", a cooperation program with Zhejiang University on Wednesday. Seventeen top scholars in Zhejiang University were appointed as the first batch of inviting professors working in Ningbo.

According to the program, six leading professors including Prof. Li Bogeng and Prof. Yan Xiaolang were appointed as academic leaders and 11 professors were hired as top teaching professors.

The "9211 Special Talent Support Program" aims to deepen the strategic cooperation between Ningbo and Zhejiang University. As part of the co-op program, Zhejiang University shall send nine top professors in the next three years to work as academic leaders in Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute. Meanwhile, Zhejiang University will select another 20 excellent lecturers or teaching experts as advisors for the university in Ningbo. The program also includes a PhD degree program for young university teachers and a plan to have Ningbo officials serve temporary positions in Zhejiang University. The Ningbo Municipal Government will grant certain financial support in the professional development for academic staff in Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute.

Smart home education platform launched

On the morning of March 4, the first smart home education platform in Ningbo was launched, sponsored by Ningbo Municipal Women's Association and other departments concerned. Parents can obtain the latest educational information from the platform, and the "weekend schedule" section can provide all information on parent-child activities around the city.

The platform, the upgraded version of the original home education network, serves as a new online parent school. In 2004, with the concept of education via internet, the online parent school became a new way of popularizing home education knowledge. The new network is launched on such platforms as micro-blog and wechat besides the internet.

New shadow puppets show attract younger audience

A "Tangshan Shadow Puppet show for children" was staged in Ningbo's Concert Hall last weekends. The performers innovated the traditional art of shadow play and puppet play by combing the two in one play. The show presented classic children’s play like "Tiger King" "Big Wolf" and "Monkey King Defeats the White-Skeleton Demon" and won applause from both the kids and their parents.

Two Universities in Ningbo Received Award Funds

On February 17, 2014, two universities in Ningbo received award funds respectively. Ningbo University received 3 million yuan as student research fund while Ningbo Foreign Affairs School received 600 thousand yuan as reward foundation for teachers and students.
To further promote secondary vocational education in Ningbo as well as train more special talents, Ningbo CNDCA Entrepreneurs Association specifically set up Ningbo Democratic Construction Reward Foundation for Teachers and Students to award excellent teachers and students in Ningbo Foreign Affairs School. On the afternoon of February 16, both parties signed the donation agreement, which makes it clear that from 2014 to 2016, Ningbo CNDCA Entrepreneurs Association will give 200 thousand yuan to Ningbo Foreign Affairs School, 122 thousand for students’ scholarship and 78 thousand for teachers’ grants.
