1st Ningbo-US educational cooperation meeting held

The 1st Ningbo-US Educational Cooperation & Exchange Meeting was held in Milwaukee, the biggest city and lake port in Wisconsin State on September 10. At the meeting, 13 educational cooperation agreements were signed, including those between Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Education and the Milwaukee School of Wisconsin University, between Zhejiang Wanli University and Northern Illinois University, and between Ningbo High School and Solomon High School. The delegates from two sides communicated with each other and discussed about related projects.

The United States have always been an important partner for Ningbo in the field of educational cooperation. By promoting constant cooperation, launching innovative models and expanding cooperative fields, the two parties have made significant achievement in such fields as cooperative education, student (and teacher) exchange and research cooperation. In 2013, Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Education signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Washington D. C. Education Bureau at the Sino-US Educational Cooperation & Exchange Meeting held in Ningbo. So far, universities in Ningbo have established cooperative relationship with 75 American educations, and 12 pairs of primary or middle schools have become sister schools. There are now more than 10 educational cooperation projects and over 100 exchange projects.

Ningbo-Hong Kong students exchange meeting held

The Ningbo-Hong Kong students exchange meeting was held on the morning of August 1. At the meeting, representatives from the educational departments of the two cities as well as representatives of students engaged in internship and training attended the meeting to exchange their ideas in learning and cooperation. 
At the meeting, many exchange students shared their experience and ideas. A student graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University shared with others his experience in Hong Kong. When he first arrived in Hong Kong as one of new students from the mainland China, some volunteers offered to teach them Cantonese and made them company during the traditional festivals. Investment in Education System Infrastructure Increases 46%

These days, pictures of new school buildings in Yinzhou Middle School go viral on the internet and many netizens think highly of these buildings. It is said that in the autumn semester of 2014, there are 31 new school districts are running in Ningbo, among which 28 are newly-built while the rest are expanded on the basis of original ones.
In recent years, Ningbo has strengthened its investment in education system and striven to promote the development of an equal and quality education. It aims to construct every school into “a good school near home” to meet the demand of parents in an urgent need of good schools for their children. 
According to the statistics, from 2011 to 2013, the investment in education system infrastructure in Ningbo was respectively 3.38 billion yuan, 4.38 billion yuan and 4.95 billion yuan, which shows that the investment of 2013 realizes an increase of 46% compared to that of 2011.

“It takes 3 days at least or half a month at most. The Hechuang academician workstation employs 3D technology to “print” sample pieces, increasing efficiency 20-30 times and saving a large amount of money for enterprises.” said the director of Ningbo Huade Auto Parts Co.,Ltd. on July 19th and he suggested that academician workstations have yielded effective and immediate results in speeding enterprise innovation. Up to now, 69 academician workstations have been registered in Ningbo, over 600 high-tech projects have been launched and over 600 national invention patents have been submitted.
Presently, our city is in a critical period of transformation development, economic growth being slow and restraints being prominent. Therefore, the transformation from a resource-oriented economy to an innovation-oriented economy is extremely pressing. “In this year’s Talents of Science and Technology Week, Ningbo will build a batch of academician workstations to attract talents and maximize their wit so as to meet enterprises’ demands of technological innovation.” said a relevant official in the Ningbo Association for Science and Technology.
