Container throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port exceeding 10 million TEUs

According to the data of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transportation, from January to April, the cargo throughput of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port was 398.358 million tons, up by 15.1% year on year. The container throughput reached 10.4 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 25.6%.
To be specific, in April, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port achieved a cargo throughput of 105.099 million tons, up by 9.8%, and a container throughput of 2.713 million TEUs, up by 26.8% over the same period of last year.
Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has actively responded to the transportation pressure brought about by the improvement of the global economy and trade environment, and taken various measures to solve the problem of shortage in the shipping market. From January to April, 59 empty container vessels were added, bringing about 2.41 million TEUs of empty containers.


The port has optimized its collection and distribution network. In April, three new near-ocean branch lines were added, increasing the total number of routes to 269. A new sea-rail intermodal train was added, leading to a total of 20 trains, covering 15 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions and 56 counties.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has also launched the "dynamic container loading" initiative in accordance with the actual arrival time of the shipping company's ships, and released the opening schedule of the whole port at 10 o'clock every day on the EDI website and the "container loading notice" on the YGT platform, thus improving the utilization rate of the port yard.
In terms of the bulk cargo, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port achieved a double-digit growth in loading and unloading capacity by actively meeting the production demand brought by the strong demand for iron ore. The sending volume of coal stayed stable, and the coal loading and unloading volume increased significantly. In the case of rising crude oil prices, the port has optimized resource allocation, accelerated the tank capacity turnover and taken other measures to achieve steady growth of crude oil loading and unloading.
