On April 1st last year, the "Regulations on the Promotion of Reading for All in Ningbo" were formally implemented. The "Regulations" stipulated that each April is Ningbo Reading Month. Yesterday, in the recitation of the music poem "Ningbo, Ningbo", the launch ceremony of Ningbo Reading Month in 2021 and the theme exhibition of the first anniversary of the implementation of "Ningbo National Reading Promotion Regulations" were held in the new building of Ningbo Library.
Ningbo is the first city in Zhejiang Province to promote reading for all in the form of legislation. Over the past year, Ningbo has taken the promotion of national reading as an important content and main focus of the construction of "Science Ningbo". It has actively adopted various activities and carriers such as the April 23 World Book Day, the Ningbo Book Fair on October 31, the Zhejiang Book Fair, and Ningbo Literature Week. Guide the general public to increase their interest in reading, develop reading habits, improve reading ability, and continuously meet the people's growing spiritual and cultural needs, build a platform for cultural Ningbo, and shout for the ancient and modern collections.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 1200th anniversary of the founding of Ningbo. This year’s Ningbo Reading Month event has the theme of "Looking back on a hundred years of glory and reading the ancient city of a thousand years". It implements city-county linkage and social integration, and plans to launch more than 300 national readings. Promotion activities include diverse and distinctive theme forums, speech reading, reading salons, book exhibitions, excellent reading promotion, reading brand display, etc., vigorously create a good atmosphere of reading more, reading good books, and reading books well, and make Ningbo Reading Month Created as a "Science Ningbo" festival, let the strong scholarly fragrance infiltrate every corner of the city.
The theme exhibition on the first anniversary of the implementation of "Ningbo National Reading Promotion Regulations" kicked off in the Art Space on the second floor of the New Building of Ningbo Library. Representatives of 8 Ningbo readers of different industries and different genders and ages will tell the general public " The reader’s story. Among them, there is Zhuang Qining, who played a role in promoting the establishment of the first planetarium in Ningbo and is still reading at the age of 75. Chen Xiaoping, who "reads" nearly 30,000 words of literary works with his ears every day, uses various food-related books as reference books and insists on in-depth study. Han Buhan and others, who reported on the changes in the city, through the story full of tension, from point to face to see the reading attitude of each reader and even the reading ecology of a city.
The exhibition also shared a list of selected books, leading reading enthusiasts across the city to experience the unique charm of books and words, and thus establish a permanent connection between individuals, the city and reading.
In this year’s reading month activity, Ningbo Library carefully planned and created three thematic sections of “Who is reading”, “Hundred Years of Fenghua”, and “Reading in the City”, in order to make reading a life style that everyone can participate in, and let the whole people read. Take root and spread in this scholarly city. As a reading spokesperson, Xu Yibo, the director of the Ningbo Library, made suggestions to readers, hoping that more citizens will fall in love with reading, read more good books, and read more classics
