New breakthrough in foreign trade in Ningbo

In 2011, the import and export of Ningbo reached 200 billion US dollars. In 2013, Ningbo made a new breakthrough in import and export. According to the updated statistics from Ningbo Customs, in 2013 the total of import and export at Ningbo Customs values 211.9 billion US dollars, up by 7.3% year on year. Of the total, the export totals 134 billion US dollars, increased by 8%; the import reaches 77.9 billion US dollars, increased by 6.2%.
Statistics show that in 2013, the export of yarn and textile products reaches 18.75 US dollars, up by 9.9% year on year. Other commodities in the top ten of the exported products are clothes auxiliaries, shoes, domestic appliance, furniture, plastic products, automobile components, lamps, processed oil and seafood. There is an increase in the export of all these products, especially processed oil, which values 1.85 billion US dollars, increased by 28.2%.
Statistics show that in 2013, the export via Ningbo Customs by other cities reaches 134.2 billion yuan, increased by 10.8% year on year, covering over 60% of the total of the import and export in the year. Of these cities, Beijing, Shaoxing, and Taizhou are the top three that contribute to the export of Ningbo. Their export respectively increases 353.4 billion dollars, 16.23 billion and 14.44 billion dollars. Quzhou, Jiaxing and Huzhou have a rapid growth in their export via Ningbo, which values respectively 1.89 billion dollars, 1.08 billion dollars and 640 million dollars, up by 36.3%, 19.5% and 16.8% respectively.
With the development of the Zhejiang-Taizhou Trade Zone (in Shipu Xiangshan), the small-scale trade to Taiwan via Ningbo Port maintains a fast increase. In 2013, the small-scale trade to Taiwan is worth 15,569,000 US dollars, increased by 30.4% year on year. Of the total, the export reaches 94.32 billion US dollars, and the export 61.37 billion US dollars, increased by 61.9% and 0.3% respectively. In the small-scale trade of Ningbo Customs to Taiwan, all the exported is sea food, of which the export of pomfret fish reaches 87.38 billion US dollars, increased by 100%. The imported are mainly electromechanical products, valuing 40.31 billion US dollars, dropping by 1.7% year on year.
