Import and export volume of Ningbo drops slightly

Ningbo Customs announced that in the first half of this year, the total import and export volume of Ningbo’s foreign trade stood at 622.96 billion yuan, down by 1.4% over the same period of last year. To be specific, the export amounted to 405.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8%; the import was 217.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6%.

Private enterprises remain the main force for import and export. In the first half of the year, private enterprises in the city achieved an import and export volume of over 460 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, accounting for 74.3% of the total import and export volume of Ningbo during the same period.

The European Union and the United States remain as the top two trading partners of the city. In the first half of the year,

Ningbo’s import and export volumes to the European Union and the United States were 108.8 billion yuan and 101.6 billion yuan respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 6.3% and 10.1%. ASEAN is the third largest trading partner. In the period, Ningbo’s import and export volume to ASEAN reached nearly 74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%.

In addition, Ningbo’s import and export to countries along the “Belt and Road” exceeded 200 billion yuan, up by 11.2% year on year, accounting for 32.4% of the city’s total import and export in the same period. The import and export volume to the Central and Eastern European countries reached nearly 25 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%.

In the first half of the year, mechanical and electrical products were the leading export commodities, with an export value of 231.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, accounting for 57.1% of the total export volume. The export value of labor-intensive products reached 92.25 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%. The export of new energy products was impressive, with solar cells, new energy vehicles, and lithium-ion batteries achieving an export volume of 8.9 billion yuan, 4.7 billion yuan, and 3.4 billion yuan respectively, with the year-on-year growth of 31.1%, 62.6%, and 34.6%.

In the first half of the year, Ningbo imported 21.88 billion yuan of consumer goods, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%, while the import volume of mechanical and electrical products decreased by 5.7% year-on-year
