Zhejiang’s first intelligent light pole road to be put into use

Recently, it is learned from the relevant departments that Keji Road in Yinzhou District, Zhejiang’s first intelligent light pole road supporting driver-assistance technology is to be completed and put into use. The road was invested and constructed by Yincheng Group.

The total length of smart light pole section of Keji Road is about 300 meters, located from East Changshou Road to Chunyuan Road. Yincheng Group has systematically planned road signs and space, erected 9 multi-functional intelligent light poles, and built an intelligent light management platform.

These intelligent light poles use new steel and aluminum combination materials and integrate emerging technologies such as big data, vehicle networking and Internet of Things, which can carry various devices and sensors to achieve interoperability of urban operation data and improve the accuracy of urban management. They are an important part of new infrastructure and smart city construction.

The project is under full construction by CSSC Group Co.. An official of the project introduced, "These light poles have unique advantages in supporting assisted (automatic) driving and smart lighting and provide a variety of application scenarios such as smart transportation, smart parking, smart municipalities, and public services, making the city management more orderly."

The smart light pole has the world's leading Beidou difference positioning technology. The surrounding vehicles can take the location information of the smart light pole as the reference and compare and correct the Beidou positioning information with their own positioning information in real time, thus reducing the positioning error of the vehicle to the centimeter level. Besides, the smart light pole also has the cutting-edge technology of 5G-V2X, and the Huawei MH5000 series chip it carries is the world's first chip that integrates 5G communication with V2X protocol. It can quickly release information about roadside traffic lights, pedestrian trespassing, and construction with ultra-short time delay as low as 10 nanoseconds with timely and efficient information interaction, making vehicle-road collaboration possible.

In addition, with the help of smart light poles, law enforcement officers and managerial staff can monitor, collect evidence and release information in real time to efficiently enforce the law and implement management. For example, it can rely on the Internet of Things sensor system to monitor whether the manhole covers are lost, tilted or displaced, monitor the degree of garbage overflow, and even expand to monitor the operation of various urban infrastructure such as water bodies and greenery around the road, so that municipal management becomes clear and orderly
