2016 Overseas Talents' Trip to Ningbo launched

With its strong industrial foundation and powerful innovation capacity, Ningbo has been an ideal destination for various kinds of talents. By May 2016, there have been over 7000 innovative enterprises, over 1200 high-tech enterprises and over 100 leading innovative enterprises boasting an output value of one billion yuan. The added value of the strategic emerging industry reached 43.5 billion yuan, up by 9% over the same period of 2015. Over 5400 invention patents have been approved in the whole city, up by 91% over the same period of last year, and Ningbo ranks No.8 in China in terms of innovation capacity.
Since the launching of the "3315 plan" in 2011, the attraction of returned overseas talents in Ningbo has been accelerated. Currently, there are over 1.92 million talents working in Ningbo, including over 8000 high-end overseas talents, which is growing at a speed of 1600 people per year. Reportedly, 97 teams and 333 returned overseas talents have been included in the "3315 plan", including 75 national "1000-people plan" experts, 198 provincial "1000-people plan" experts, both ranking among the top in Zhejiang Province. Thus the "Intelligence Valley" is now taking shape.
During the 2016 Ningbo Science, Technology and Talents Week, the Organizing Department of Ningbo Party Committee and Ningbo Science & Technology Association sponsored the activity of "overseas talents' trip to Ningbo". 16 overseas Chinese experts from such countries as the UK, the US, Canada and Japan attended the activity and presented 12 technological projects, covering the five domains of high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and new energy, medicine, environment protection and internet.
Afterwards, the experts will conduct field inspections to the Hangzhou Bay New Zone and Zhenhai District accompanied by the representatives from the local industrial parks and enterprises, in the hope of reach five cooperation intentions.
The "Overseas Talents' Trip to Ningbo" campaign has carried out 10 large-scale activities and 25 small-scale activities since 2011, and over 50 group leaders of the overseas sci-tech teams and over 270 overseas high-end talents have been invited to conduct inspections in Ningbo or apply for the "3315 plan" for introducing innovative teams or individuals. The campaign has achieved remarkable success in introducing high-end overseas intelligence and talents, promoting the cooperation between overseas intelligence and Ningbo enterprises, helping the SMEs to realize technological upgrading and improve product competitiveness by introducing advanced overseas technologies, and leading to joint research and development of new products and new technologies.
As an integral part of the high-end overseas talents introducing plan, the activity has also extended its talent introducing action abroad in addition to inviting overseas Chinese talents to present their projects in Ningbo. 12 overseas cooperation centers for talent affairs have been established in such countries as the US, Germany and Canada, with eight overseas Ningbo celebrities serving as the "talent ambassadors". Meanwhile, the overseas entrepreneurship and innovation competition and overseas financial venture competition of the "3315 plan" have been held in the same period to timely attract the settlement of distinctive talents and projects in Ningbo
