Recently, Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Department destroyed 19,000 items of unqualified cross-border e-commerce imports at the worth 326,000 US dollars, which included food, cosmetics and disposable hygiene products.
According to Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Department, the unqualified products that were from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Thailand and so on were mostly expired, deteriorating or had packages in damaged condition and excessive microorganism.
To ensure the quality of imported products, the employees of the department bought products on e-commerce sales platform anonymously and sent the products to third-party laboratory for inspection. Once unqualified products are found, the sellers would be asked to stop selling and call back the products. In the first half year, 98 batches and 10 types of imported products have been selectively examined by the department. Meanwhile, the department used the cross-border e-commerce inspection and quarantine system to randomly choose parcels according to a certain proportion and check their trade names, numbers, expiration dates and QR codes for anti-counterfeiting and source-tracing
