The opening ceremony as well as the summit forum of the 2016 Ningbo Industrial Design Week, with the theme of "industrial design and intelligent manufacturing", was held at Hefeng Creative Square. Pan Yunhe, member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and former Executive Deputy-director of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
With the title of "big data platforms for innovative design", Pan Yunhe gave an "open class" for innovative industrial design. He said, the quality of design depends, to some extent, on the quality of manufacturing. In the big data era, the promoting role of the innovative design in the prosperity of manufacturing is prominent. Ningbo is in urgent need of emphasizing innovative design while developing intelligent economy and constructing the pilot demonstration city of "made in China 2025", and it should accelerate the integration of industrial design and intelligent manufacturing and promote the industrial transformation and upgrading by giving full play to the big data platforms for innovative design.
The results of the 6th "Hefeng Award" Industrial Design Competition, sponsored by Ningbo Municipal Government and hosted by Ningbo Economic and Information Technology Committee, were released on July 19. The competition arranged three awards, including the "best design concept", the "best design docking", and the "best design product", according to its three stages of design result docking and industrialization. Among the several thousand of candidates, 73 got the "best design concept" award, 19 got the "best design docking" award and 20, the "best design product" award. During the competition, 149 projects realized the docking with enterprises, with the total design volume of 37.21 million yuan and an expected industrialized sales income of four billion yuan
