According to Ningbo Housing Construction Committee, in this year, Ningbo has started the construction of 7,902 low-price houses of 690,000 square meters, including 3,587 public rental houses of 230,000 square meters. Of the target of 15,900 low-price houses (including 10,000 public rental houses) that should be started construction this year as is set by Zhejiang Provincial People's Government for Ningbo, Ningbo has so far fulfilled half.
According to Zhejiang Provincial Government, Ningbo this year should basically complete the construction of 5,800 low-price houses, including 5,000 as-built ones. The city should also have 1,000 households subsidized for renting houses. Statistics of Ningbo Housing Construction Committee show that so far, Ningbo has completed the construction of 1,744 low-price houses of 150,000 square meters, and the on-going projects of low-income houses involve 2.15 million sq meters. In this year, the city has solved the housing problem for 2, 604 low and middle-income families, providing 1,624 families with low-rental houses and 980 low-price houses.
In order to ensure the land for low-price housing for low-income earners, in July last year, Ningbo Housing Construction Committee, Ningbo Municipal Development and Reform Commission and joined in by Ningbo Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Ningbo Municipal Land and Resources Bureau jointly circulated a document, requiring that all the counties and cities of Ningbo should ensure the land for low-pricing houses in 2012. Early in this year, Ningbo Housing Construction Committee and Ningbo Municipal Land and Resources Bureau urged them several times to ensure the land for the low-price houses

In response to the spirit of 12th Ningbo Party Congress of accelerating the construction of the modern metropolis, improving the living environment and enhancing the quality of life, Jiangdong District has selected Dandinghe Community as the pilot livable community, in accordance with Ningbo's implementation plan of building demonstrative livable communities.
The selected community is one with sufficient conditions. The construction work involves the infrastructure perfection, the burying of specialized tubes, the environmental beautification, housing renovation and security equipment installation. To be specific, the gate house or watch box in the major entrances of the community should be arranged to facilitate the residents' access and guard management. The community should be surrounded by security facilities and the walls along the streets should be transformed into permeable walls. All the overhead wires including those for communication, internet and cable TV should be buried underground. In a word, the construction aims at building a quality community with safe and comfortable houses, all the necessary facilities, a smooth traffic and neat pipelines, a tidy environment and a comfortable atmosphere for living.
Recently, the Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Bureau of Jiangdong District hosted the meeting for the construction of the demonstrative community, with representatives from Baihe Street Committee and Dandinghe Community attending the meeting. The meeting, where the general idea and specific contents of the construction were introduced and the suggestions from the representatives were put forward, marks the official start-off of the construction of the demonstrative livable community in Jiangdong District
