International Red Peony Home of Jiulong Lake opens

The opening ceremony of the International Red Peony Home was held at the beautiful Jiulong Lake scenic area on the morning of March 27. More than 80 international friends from more than 50 countries such as Malaysia, Poland and Italy witnessed this special occasion.
The International Red Peony Society of Painting and Calligraphy is a non-profit cultural communication organization for international friends to learn about the traditional Chinese culture, including Chinese painting and calligraphy. Since 2012, over 12,000 foreign friends from over 170 countries have learned painting red

peony at the society, which has become a remarkable cultural symbol of Ningbo.
Jointly started by the government of Jiulong Town of Zhenhai District and the International Red Peony Society of Painting and Calligraphy, the International Red Peony Home serves as a new platform and window for foreign friends to learn and experience Chinese traditional culture in Ningbo. At about 10 a.m. on March 27, more than 100 guests, including foreigners, arrived at the opening ceremony one after another. Located on the lakeside of the Jiulong Lake, the international home is fragrant with tea and full of traditional music. The foreigners enthusiastically watched the graceful and elegant traditional Chinese dance, and enjoyed the Taichi performance with softness and firmness. Many people painted peonies on the spot. Under the guidance of the instructors of the society, in just a few minutes, one after another peonies appeared on the paper. Later, the guests present planted flowers of various colors representing friendship, mutual love and peace along the lake.
Reportedly, the International Red Peony Home will conduct a series of activities, including the "international forum for rural revitalization", "1,000 people painting red peony" and "Taichi along the Jiulong Lake". Meanwhile, the Jiulong Lake Town will make further efforts to promote the art-motivated rural revitalization and construction of the "backyard" of the modernized coastal city.
