Xiangshan sees an improvement in urban-rural and ecological development

rom 2103 to 2015, Xiangshan County had seen a conspicuous rise as regards its ranking in the quality of economic growth.
Viewing from the comprehensive ranking, the economy and governmental services in Xiangshan were encountered with harsh external pressure. Whereas, the competitiveness in areas such as society, urban-rural development and ecology had well boosted up.
In terms of regional features, the air quality and living environment in Xiangshan were significantly improved while the social causes developed steadily. During the period, the annual concentration of PM 2.5 was the lowest in Xiangshan compared with other regions in Ningbo; Xiangshan ranked high for reducing the emission of major pollutants, the total amount of which in 2015 was only three fourths that in 2013. Social welfare were on the way to perfection. In 2015, 4.53 beds were provided by nursing institutions for per 100 elders, the figure higher than the average in Ningbo. There are still spaces for improvement with respect to impetuses of innovation, all-round performance and the infrastructure in urban areas. Last year, the patents held by 10,000 persons registered 1.91; the per capita profits of production stood at 111,000 yuan; the coverage of greenery accounted for 33.77% of all the land while per capita public facilities for artistic and sports activities reached 0.36 square meters.
For further enhancement of developmental quality, Xiangshan County should bring its regional characteristics into full play, promoting comprehensive performance of the economy by focusing on special industries, among which the manufacturing and tourism industries are fundamental in overall development and conducive for the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries as well as the fostering and introduction of emerging industries. Bearing tourism conglomeration in mind, tourism resources should be coordinately exploited to form a fresh system and enhance the economic competitiveness. Besides, Xiangshan should pursue an all-round innovation-driven development. Enterprises should strive to be more innovative and be granted a primary role to gather in favorable resources for innovation. New platforms like special townships and makerspace need to be established for an alignment between business startups, innovation and venture investment and an ecosphere featured by wholesome entrepreneurship and innovative spirit. Infrastructure in urban areas is to be strengthened while the living environment enhanced. Holding fast to the opportunity of becoming a provincial-level garden city, Xiangshan should enlarge green coverage and improve on its urban landscape. What’s more, the network of public transportation requires optimization, the construction of pipe network needs to be accelerated and the cleaning projects of air and soil should be carried on
