According to Yinzhou Science and Technology Bureau, the Ministry of Science and Technology released the result of the last list of the hi-tech enterprises of the national the Torch Project for the year 2012 on which are 40 enterprises. So far, Yinzhou District has 232 national-level hi-tech enterprises, ranking the first in Ningbo City.

Since 2008 the country started the approval of the national-level enterprises of the Torch Project, Yinzhou has had more and more nationally approved hi-tech enterprises, which play the leading role in the economic transformation and upgrading in Yinzhou.

Of the 232 high-tech enterprises, 114 have municipal-level or higher-level technological centers including 4 national level ones, half the number of Ningbo. These technological centers have committed to over 100 national projects of the "863 Project", the "Torch Project" and the Innovation Fund and so on. In 2012, the district spent about 2.7 billion yuan on R&D, most of the high-tech enterprises.

Statistics show that of the 232 hi-tech enterprises, there are 191 large enterprises, 99 of which each have their sales valuing over 100 million yuan.

Thanks to the high-tech enterprises, in 2012, the annual output, sales and profit tax reached respectively 58.09 billion yuan, 56.16 billion yuan and 4.73 billion yuan, increased by 23.8%, 23.8% and 1.6% respectively on the yearly base.
