Ninghai establishes first blood donation center

Ninghai County established its first blood donation center on November 9, which attracted 35 blood donors on the first day. The establishment of the center aims to promote voluntary blood donation and ease the chronic blood shortages. According to local authorities, Ninghai County is leading other regions in Ningbo as to the voluntary blood donation and was awarded for its contribution. Ninghai County reported a total of 3,580 blood donations, or 1.2 tons of blood donated in 2011, and achieved a self-sufficiency ratio of 110 percent.

Ningbo Port's food imports grow 19%

Customs statistics show that the total import of wine, olive oil, beer, and natural honey from January to October in Ningbo Port amounted to US$ 52,912,000, an increase of 19 percent over the same period last year. The food imports in October alone hit US$ 4,234,000, an increase of 29.6 percent year-on-year.

According to statistics released by Ningbo Customs, the city has imported 9.636 million liters of wine, worth US$ 47,598,000, a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent and 13.9 percent, respectively. The average import price of wine stood at US$ 4.9 / L, up 6.6 percent over the same period last year. It imported 1086.3 tons of olive oil, worth US$ 4,546,000, a year-on-year increase of 86.9 percent and 95.1 percent, respectively. The average import price stood at US$ 4,185 / ton, up 4.4 percent year-on-year. The city imported 564,000 liters of beer, worth US$ 768,000, a year-on-year increase of 36.7 percent and 1.4 times. The average import price stood at US$ 13.6 / liter, up 79 percent year-on-year. The city imported 16.1 tonnes of natural honey, valued at US$ 150,000, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 times and 2.6 times, respectively, and the average import price stood at 9.3 USD / kg, up 56.4 percent year-on-year.

Currently, the food importation in Ningbo Port is dominated by wine, in addition to olive oil, natural honey, and beer. Moreover, the ongoing 2012 China Food Expo in Ningbo will further lead to the rapid growth of food imports in Ningbo.

Tengtou Garden seeking IPO approval

According to the latest list of IPO applicants released by China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) on November 9, Tengtou Garden in Ningbo's Fenghua has been listed in applicants registered in small plates. The company is located in Ningbo's Tengtou Village, which won the UN Environmental Program's award of the "global 500 best", and was the only village selected for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

According to CSRC, Tengtou Garden is undergoing IPO review with Everbright Securities as its underwriter. If Tengtou Garden obtains the IPO approval, it will become the second listed company in Fenghua next to Ningbo Bird Co., LTD, a cell phone manufacturer. It will also become Ningbo's first listed companies at township level.

Tengtou Garden, founded in 1996 by Tengtou Group, is an enterprise whose business covers garden nursery, plant production, sales and service, plant science and technology R & D applications, landscape design, and garden maintenance service. Covering an area of 30,000 mu (4942 acres), Tengtou Garden is one of the largest ornamental planting suppliers in China. It has four seedling bases in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, central and northern China, with more than 200 million trees and 140 varieties. Meanwhile, it plans to build two more bases in southwest and northwest China, which will enlarge its total area to over 50,000 mu (8237acres).

The ownership of Tengtou Group over Tengtou Garden is down to only 20 percent now through ownership reform and several rounds of adjustment since 1996.

CMA CGM Marco Polo's maiden voyage to Port of Ningbo

The other day, CMA CGM Marco Polo moored at Port of Ningbo.

At the noon, CMA CGM Marco Polo, the largest container ship of the world that is capable of carrying 16,000 standard containers, arrived at the Port of Ningbo in its maiden voyage.

CMA CGM Marco Polo is a ship of CMA CGM. It was launched in South Korea on November 6. She is 396 long and 54 meters wide, being the world's largest ship.

Despite its gigantic size, CMA CGM Marco Polo moored with ease at Berth 5 of the Port of Ningbo. Then, 10 overhang cranes started to work, loading 1,600 standard containers into CMA CGM Marco Polo. At 8:00 p.m., CMA CGM Marco Polo left the Port of Ningbo for its next destination Shanghai.

In 1959, CMA CGM started business with Ningbo. In 1997 the Port of Ningbo opened its first container line to Europe.

Ningbo popularizing energy saving lamps

According to Ningbo Office of Energy Saving, this year the city of Ningbo is to spread the use of 1.3 million energy saving lamps, and 70% of them will be used in the rural areas. When this task is completed, the city can save 270 million kwh (equivalent to 95,000 standard coal) this year. From November 7 on, citizens, with their IDs, can buy the lamps at the 16 appointed places.
