Over 14,000 people in Yuyao no longer threatened by geologic hazards

 It is raining heavily and constantly these days. Mr. Wan, an man at his seventies said: “ if it happened in the past, we would worry so much about landslide that couldn’t sleep at night. But now we have moved into resettlement area and are no longer bothered by it.
On the plat land of Liangnong, Yuyao, there stand rows of newly-built two-storeys houses. Not long before, Mr. Wan, with over 30 other families, moved into the resettlement area preventing from potential geologic hazards.
Siming Mountain area, in south Yuyao, is an area that frequently confronts geologic disasters. In order to safeguard people’s lives and possessions, in recent years, Yuyao government has introduced the subsidy policy for residents moving out from mountainous areas that threatened by geologic hazards to resettlement areas. Nearly 20 million yuan is used as moving subsidy for residents. Local Department of Land has got over 150 hectare land for the construction of resettlement community and other counties and communities also actively participate in. By the end of May this year, Yuyao has finished the construction of five resettlement communities for residents threatened by geologic hazard. There are 436 families and 1417 residents altogether. Besides, Yuyao government has also granted over 10 million yuan for engineering management for Banling slope, Dalan and other eight places that face potential geologic disasters.
It is known that the third-stage resettlement area in Liangnongzhen is under tight construction and Lufuzhan is launching the initial work for resettlement community for landslide migration. 

National Sea Fishing Championship 2013 opened

On May 31, "Fortune Cup" National Sea Fishing Championship 2013 and the 2nd China (Xiangshan) Fishing Yacht Exhibition opened in Xiangshan.

According to a related authority of Xiangshan County Tourist Administration, the sea fishing championship is known as the "top sea fishing championship in the East Sea", and the most authoritative professional sea fishing contest in China. 80 contestants from 20 delegations of 18 provinces and cities including Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan joined the championship.

Ningbo Free Trade Zone has 22 post Ph.Ds

The other day, a ceremony was held in Ningbo Free Trade Zone for the entrance of Dr. Lin Yong in the post doctorial workstation. He is the 22nd post Ph.d in Ningbo Free Trade Zone.

In the past 12 years, the workstation for the post Ph.Ds has been a very important platform for the Zone to attract high-rank talents. So far it has enrolled 22 post doctorial researchers. 18 of them stood out. 10 stayed in Ningbo and 4 stayed in the Zone. In the 12 years, the post doctors made 34 R&D results, including 6 projects funded by the Torch Project, 15 provincial-level projects, and 3 funded by China Postdoctor Foundation. They have obtained 11 patents of invention, and 52 patents for utility models, 6 software copyrights. About 30 papers are in the three major science citation indexes in the world. The work of the post doctors has resulted in turnout of over 200 million yuan for the enterprises in the Zone.

According to the new policy the Zone released in early May, the Zone will give greater support to the post doctorial workstation. The monthly subsidy for a post doctor working in the station will rise from 5,000 yuan to 8,000 yuan and housing will be free of charge.

Demonstration area on marine ecological restoration to be built in Xiangshan Port

Ningbo will invest 27.86 million yuan in the construction of the demonstration area on marine ecological restoration in Xiangshan Port from this year. By 2015, the bio-remediation demonstration area will bemore than 4,000 mu (1 mu=0.067 hectare), including 800 mu of seaweed restoration area, 3000 mu of fish breeding habitat restoration area, and 300 mu of coastal green landscape along the Xiangshan Port Bridge.

With its advantages in resources and environment, Xiangshan Port plays an important role in the construction of core demonstration area for Zhejiang provincial marine economy and in Ningbo’s strategy of strengthening the city by developing marine economy. However, a series of improper exploitations has resulted in the decline of the quality of the marine ecological environment in Xianghsan Port area, such as the growing eutrophication phenomenon, the obvious decline of the fishery resources and the spreading desertification of the wetland caused by Spartina.
