For an excursion our class went to a village called “Tengtou”. We went there because right now we are learning about the environment and pollution. Tengtou happens to be an eco-friendly village.

Tengtou is a very clean place with approximately 800 families. It is a self-governing town which means that the people are living from the tourist attractions. For example, they get ¥20 for an entrance fee and then that money goes to the city. 

This town didn’t start like this. A long time ago, this soil wasn’t good for farming. There wasn’t too much nature and it was pretty ugly, but after a lot of work and effort, VOILA! It looks like the perfect place to live. There isn’t much technology and it isn’t too modern, but the air is clean, the water is pretty and the soil is great for farming.

Tengtou is a great example to show china what it can be. In Tengtou, they show that you DON’T have to use soil to plant stuff. In a small green house, they have planted seeds above the ground in small jars filled with water. They look very healthy. Tengtou’s seedlings are also exported all over the world. They are little already-grown-plants in little jars. You take them and put them in the ground (or water) and they will grow.

This town also has eco-friendly buildings. The walls outside the building have ivy grown on them. They look really pretty. The elevators are energy saving and have special motors. If there is a lake outside the building, the energy of the water will go in the pipes under the water and will take it inside the building. There are some solar-panels on the roof. Some walls are made out of old boats! Instead of only roofs, they have balconies or green houses.

Tengtou is a great place to go to. The architecture and scenery is FABULOUS!!! It’s also a very educational and cultural place. You’ll be HAPPY to go there. You’ll feel fresh. In two words: COOL PLACE!!!!

About 350,000 mu (57,658 acre) of single harvest rice transplanted by machines

Machine transplant of single harvest rice has been finished recently. Ningbo continues to lead in Zhejiang province with 346,600 mu, 120,000 more than that in 2012, transplanted by machines. 
Ningbo has integrated resources in promoting machine transplant and more than 80% of the rice transplant is completed by machines. Over 120 training meetings and transplant on-site meetings have been held and more than 4,400 technicians and farmers have attended the meetings. Technology has been popularized and transplant equipment improved. This year there are 219 new high-speed transplanters and 35 new assembly lines for growing seedlings, making the total number over 1,400 and 146 respectively.

Fenghua joins Ningbo Urban Rim

It only takes you 15 minutes drive from Ningbo to downtown Fenghua as the road section from Ningbo’s Jichang Road to Fenghua’s East-ring way became available on June 28, shortened the distance to half of the original. Not long before this, the fast track from downtown Fenghua to Chunhu Town and Binhai New Area was ready for operation. From now on, it only takes Ningbo citizens 30 minutes to get to Binhai area of Fenghua from Jichang Road.     
It is a long-cherished wish of Fenghua to join Ningbo city. Since the Eleventh Five Year Period, Fenghua has invested some four billion yuan on the construction of highway network. The traffic network connecting Fenghua and Ningbo now includes eight highways such as Longxi Highway and Xining Highway and coastal railways as well as such fast track as Ningbo-Jinhua Highway etc. 
     “The convenient traffic from Fenghua to Ningbo has not only shortened traffic time, but more importantly, it has narrowed the psychological distance between the two places, which will definitely cause the “same city” effect between Ningbo and Fenghua”, says officials of Fenghua Government. Fenghua boasts many advantages as it is functioned as a core area for southern Ningbo’s development. It will speed up its development and boosts itself as an enlarged industrial area for Ningbo’s modern city and a top choice for leisure and entertainment in Ningbo.
Fenghua has been strengthening its efforts to optimize its layout productive forces, building an economic system and spatial pattern that integrate into Ningbo and realizing industrial interaction and functional complementation with Ningbo City. It is planning to promote the construction of the four plates: city core functional area, eastern marine economic area, western tourism area and northern industrial area. It has also made a scientific layout for such industrial integrating area as Sunshine Bay, Binhai New Area, the Bamboo Industrial Park and Shangqiao New Area etc in advance, all of which has evolved into hot choices for quality projects given to their conspicuous advantages. Many large-scale projects such as Yintai Shopping Mall, Ningnan Trade and Logistics Area have settled or will be settled in such areas.  
With its sound ecological environment and its state of adjoining Ningbo City, Fenghua has become the best living place for people who work in Ningbo.
