Zilinfang Art Gallery, a gallery of Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft

At the crossroads of South Tiantong Road and Middle Rili Road in Yinzhou is a 3-storey building, Zilinfang Art Gallery, a private museum of Chen Mingwei, Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts, Inheritor of Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft and Director of Ningbo Arts and Crafts Association.

Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft is a traditional wood carving craft featured for inlaying techniques of using various materials like ivory, boxwood, annatto, rose wood, ox bone, mother-of-pearl, copper sheet, preserved stone, etc. This craft, unique with local culture, is mainly used in furniture, stationery and home utensils.

Zilinfang Art Gallery, covering an area of 4,000 square meters, opened on September 2008. It is said that all the doors of the exhibition halls in the gallery are made of rosewood. The doors and windows cost over 100 cubic meters of such precious wood.

In addition, the art gallery has a special hall for painting and calligraphic works and intangible cultural heritages. This hall is free of charge for calligraphers and painters to exhibit their works. In this hall, the procedures of Ningbo Bone-wood Inlaying Craft are also displayed.
