Two exhibitions of Ningbo selected into initial review of National Top 10 Exhibitions

On April 13, it is learned from Chinese Museums Association that Ningbo Museum’s “Years As Songs --- The Exhibition of Articles That has Witnessed Social and Economic Development in Ningbo Since 1949” and China Port Museum’s “Portus: The Sea of the Ancient Romans” have been selected into the initial review of “National Top 10 Exhibitions”.

The exhibition “Years as Songs --- The Exhibition of Articles That has Witnessed Social and Economic Development in Ningbo Since 1949”, launched in May, 2018, is a special exhibition of Ningbo Museum to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the liberation of Ningbo.

The exhibition vividly introduces the historical events and the economic and social development over the past seventy years. Based the latest research results, the exhibition is divided into five parts: The Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Basic System of Socialism, The Exploration of Socialist Construction, The New Era of Reform and Opening up and Modernization Construction, and Socialism with Chinese Characters for a New Era. The exhibition is popular with the public and is still on display.

The exhibition “Portus: The Sea of the Ancient Romans” gathering more than 130 pieces of cultural relics from five Italian relics institutions, told the close relationship between Rome and the sea. By digital reconstruction, the exhibition enabled the audience to understand the history of cultural relics and historical sites ,and experience the true life of ancient Rome. It was of great significance for Ningbo to hold the exhibition. By the comparison of two port cities, people had a deeper understanding of the history of the world civilization.

The 17th National Top 10 Exhibitions Promotion Activity is organized by Chinese Museums Association and China Cultural Relics Press. Since the end of February, the number of declarations has achieved new high with 114 applications passing the qualification review. Declarations were finished on the Online Exhibition of the Museum, the website of National Cultural Heritage. The list of declaration can be viewed on the website of National Cultural Heritage, Chinese Museums Association and Cultural Relics and Museums Online. The online exhibition will be displayed on the website of National Cultural Heritage from now on. The initial review will start soon
