2016 Smart Manufacturing Forum held in Jiangbei

The 2016 National Smart Manufacturing Forum was held in Jiangbei District on September 28. With the theme of "high-end, smart, green and sharing", the forum attracted such experts as the academicians Zheng Nanning, Sun Youxian and Chai Tianyou and representatives from smart manufacturing-related universities and institutes. This year's session is jointly sponsored by China Automation Association, the Talent Affairs Office of Ningbo Party Committee, Ningbo Science & Technology Association and Jiangbei District Government.
"Currently, the global manufacturing situation is undergoing great changes. The deep integration of the new-generation information technology and manufacturing is leading to a profound industrial reform, while smart manufacturing has become the major force of the reform. In the future, manufacturing featuring automation, digitalization, internet and environment protection will be the main trend of the development." said Academician Zheng Nanning, Director-general of China Automation Association.
Academician Sun Youxian discussed the development of smart manufacturing in terms of the research and large-scale application of the highly secure special control equipment and system, one of the key technology in the smart manufacturing field. "Currently, 80% of the high-end control system of the key industrial equipment in China are imported from other countries, restricting the further development of the domestic smart manufacturing industry." he said. At present, his research team has succeeded in developing the highly secure complete-set special control equipment and system covering all the production links, the core technological system fo the independent intellectual property.
Academician Chai Tianyou analyzed the developing trend of smart manufacturing in terms of the characteristics of the two kinds of industries, namely the process industry like the new materials industry and the discrete industry represented by the machinery manufacturing industry. He pointed out that the proper smart manufacturing pattern for the process industry is the optimized smart manufacturing, and such new technologies as big data, mobile computing and network, smart technology and knowledge automation may open up new ways for the optimized smart manufacturing of the process industry.
At the ceremony, the first smart manufacturing-driven cooperation and innovation confederation was established and signed the settlement agreement with the provincial high-tech park in Jiangbei District. The district also signed the agreement to co-build the smart IOT Industrial Base with Galaxy Group.
As one of the co-sponsors of the forum, Jiangbei District has become the north gateway of Ningbo connecting Shanghai and the other parts of the Yangtze River delta area. In recent years, the district has been developing its four core functions of modern service industry, urban industry, e-commerce innovation economy and urban leisure tourism on the basis of its own advantages. With the settlement of such major projects as the provincial high-tech industrial park, the provincial featured town, the city's first 3D printing technology service center and the 4S technology service center for industrial robots, the district has become a popular choice for entrepreneurship and innovation. In 2015, its growth rates of the high-tech industry, equipment manufacturing and strategic emerging industry all ranked among the top three of the city. For the first half of 2016, its major economic statistics rank on the top of the city, with a GDP volume fo 17.37 billion yuan.
