2012 foreign trade factory exhibition held

As an important part of the International Consumer Goods Fair, the spring exhibition of 2012 foreign trade factory exhibition was held at Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. Information showed that the exhibition attracted over 600 exhibiting companies, with more than 900 booths set up. In a short period of three days, the trading turnover exceeded 100 million yuan.
It is understood that the first foreign trade factory exhibition was put on in December 2008 and this is the fifth one ever. Despite the overall slump in foreign trade, the exhibition has yielded positive results. Among all exhibitors, enterprises from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai enterprises accounted for 75% and those of other East China region accounted for 25 percent. There was a salient feature of the agglomeration effect of Zhejiang enterprises. For example the Chuangwei Ribbon Company of Yiwu, one of the exhibitors, said their customers include the world-famous brands of Disneyland, Wal-Mart, Siemens, Coca-Cola, Sony, Samsung and their products go to Germany, Spain, United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy and other countries. Many of the orders were got from the Exhibition.Sources also say that by the end of this year Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center will have a Imports Trading Center set up at Hall 9, which will have an area of 25,000 m2. There will be a perennial exhibition of imported and declared products, such as cars, instruments, appliances, beverages, daily necessities, alcohol, food, and digital products, totaling some 1000 varieties.

China Foreign Trade Top 500 Forum Held

What kind of impact will the in-depth reconstruction of world industrial development pattern have on China’s foreign trade? China Foreign Trade Top 500 Forum, with the theme of "manufacturing and trade against the backdrop of global value chain restructuring” opened in Ningbo June 10. Li Yizhong, Former Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, deputy director of the CPPCC Economic Commission, Wang Xinkui Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Shanghai Committee Vice Chairman Wang Xinkui, and Sun Zhenyu, China's first permanent WTO representative and other guests made speeches respectively at the forum . The forum was jointly organized by the China Foreign Economic and Trade Statistical Society and the Ningbo Municipal People's Government, focusing on construction of the International Trade Centre and foreign trade development strategy, "How to promote Chinese companies to climb up the high end of the value chain", "exchange rate fluctuations, structural tax cuts and steady development of foreign trad "and other topics. Xu Xiaonian, a professor with China-Europe International Business School and a famous economist, Zhang Yansheng, Secretary general of the National Development and Reform Commission Academic Committee, Jiakang, director of the Institute of Fiscal Science under the ministry of finance, Xie Hanli, Deputy Director General Affairs Department of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, Huang Jinlao, vice president of Huaxia Bank and more than 500 business representatives from across the country gathered to exchange their ideas on related topics.
  At the Forum the China Foreign Trade and Economic Statistical Institute released the 2012 top 500 enterprises of China's foreign trade, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation reelected as the No. 1 import and export corporation with the volume standing at $ 111.919 billion. In the top ten enterprises in foreign trade, central SOEs take half while Shenzhen and Shanghai take three seats and two seats respectively. Eight enterprises of Ningbo have made way to the top 500, among which the Ningbo Chimei Electronics was listed among the top 100 import with the import and export volume of $ 3.017 billion, ranking the 99th.

Helping small and micro enterprises go global

It is learned from the organizing committee of 11th CICGF that as a major activity of this year's session, the "2012 Foreign Trade Enterprises Expo" will be held between June 8 and 11. The exhibitors are mainly small and micro enterprises.

The expo will have 890 booths with a total area of 25,000 square meters in No.7 and No.8 Halls of Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The main exhibits are handicrafts, gifts, car accessories, cosmetics, textiles and garments, shoes, hats and bags, leather wares and hardware and machinery. Besides, such joint-stock banks and local banks as Minsheng Bank, Merchants Bank, Everbright Bank, Ningbo Bank, Yinzhou Bank and Mintai Commercial Bank are invited to provide financing services for small and micro enterprises on-site.

According to a survey by Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau, there are over 7000 small and micro enterprises (with exports below five million dollars) in Ningbo, accounting for 70% of the total number of enterprises involved in exports. Over 600 small and micro enterprises form East China, one third of them being Ningbo enterprises, have applied to participate this year's Foreign Trade Enterprises Expo. Reportedly, some small and micro enterprises, such as those mold and stationary enterprises in Ninghai County and textile and accessories enterprises in Yinzhou District, will attend the expo as groups

China International Matchmaking of Intelligent Home Appliances Industry held

On June 6, 2012 China International Matchmaking of Intelligent Home Appliances Industry was held in Nanyuan Hotel, where related experts had a heated discussion on the development of intelligent home appliances. Liu Haiquan, member of the Standing Committee of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Vice-mayor of Ningbo, attended the conference and met with guest speakers and entrepreneur representatives from home and abroad.

In his talk, Wang Bohua, Deputy Inspector of the Electronic Information Division of Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, interpreted the 12th Five-year Plan for home appliances and encouraged Ningbo enterprises to seize the opportunity to make new achievements in the field of intelligent home appliances and take the lead in the technological innovations of the industry. Mr. Steve, academician from Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, introduced the prospect of the intelligent home appliances from the perspective of the integration of architectural design and intelligent home appliances. Representatives from such enterprises as Fotile, Hisense and Panosonic carried out a summit dialogue on the development of the intelligent home appliances industry in China.

In the afternoon, the project signing ceremony and industrial promotion meeting for Canadian delegation was held. Ningbo will cooperate with Canadian enterprises in over 20 projects in the fields of electronic products, new materials and new technologies, education, culture and tourism

Exports for private enterprises increased

It is learned from the foreign trade conference held yesterday that the total volume of exports and imports of Ningbo in the first four months stood at $30.2588 billion, almost the same level of the previous year. Specifically speaking, exports reached $18.467 billion, up by 3.2% over the same period last year, while imports stood at $11.819 billion, down by 4.7%.

Statistics show that the exports of private enterprises increased steadily and reached yuan 8.826 billion, up by a significant 10.9%, much higher than that of the total volume.

Since the second half of last year, with the even deepening debt crises in Europe and the USA, the consumption capacity of the markets has declined sharply. Ningbo's foreign trade orders, especially those from European and American markets, have fell accordingly.

According to the statistics of Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau, in the first four months this year, Ningbo's exports to the EU reached $3.599 billion, down by 4.3% over the same period last year. The exports four April only decreased by 6.4% over last year, and the decline is expanding. In terms of different countries, exports to Germany, France and the UK increased by 1.1%, 2.3% and 10.9% respectively, while exports to Italy and Belgium dropped by over 10%. In the first four months, Ningbo's exports to the USA increased by 8.3% and those to Japan decreased by 0.5%. The exports to such emerging markets as Latin America, ASEAN and BRICS increased by 10.5%, 19% and 9.5% respectively over the same period last year, while those to India dropped by 5.8%. .

According to a related official from Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau, the growth of the exports of traditionally strong products is quite evident. Such traditionally strong products as textile products, plastic wares, LCD panels and lighting products saw an increase of over 10% in the first four months. The exports of auto parts increased by 7.4%, and those of bearings and fasteners increased by 4.1% and 1.6% respectively. In contrast, the exports of garments and bags & boxes decreased by 0.6% and 0.8% respectively (down by 10.7% and 13.3% respectively in April). Besides, exports of such port-products as ships and containers dropped by 56.6% and 62.2% over the first four months of last year, accounting for the decrease of 2.4% of the whole volume of exports in Ningbo
