We had a great day and enjoyed the BBQ at the Xinhua Farm near Ningbo, Beilun. The specialty was a so called blank grill. This is when the food is BBQ-ed on a piece of solid wood. Thanks to Ludo and his BBQ Association for doing all such work. We at Ningbo Expat really enjoyed and hope to have more such BBQ coming up in 2008. During this event some new members of COIC, the International Chamber of Commerce in Ningbo” received their membership certificate. Congratulations.

Regular readers of this column will already well be aware that the Wednesday Dinners organized by Ningbo Expat have become a regular and important event in the weekly schedule of Ningbo Expats and their friends. These Wednesday dinners also serve the purpose to build bridges between Chinese and Expat Citizens of Ningbo.
On Wednesday 28th May 2008, the Wednesday dinner was dedicated to the support of the earthquake victims. The Chamber of International Commerce Ningbo COIC Foreign Expert Committee had approached Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, which appreciated to dedicate this Wednesday evening event of "Star Shine Over Howard Johnson" for the Charity. The evening was fully booked and from a number of tickets 50% of the ticket price was donated. The stars presenting fashion music, foreigners usually call it pop music ( pop is coming from popular), where well known to the Chinese visitors. There was "Cream" which is known for her works " summer blowing" and appeared in 2002 in a TV production, "Kimi", winner of the 2005 Hunan TV competition and "Edell" being the unchallenged star of the night.
The arrangement was done professional and in the breaks between the songs, there were dancing acts and lucky draws. The "crowd" was enjoying the evening and a donation was done to the "Red Cross".
The COIC Chamber of International Commerce Ningbo Foreign Expert Committee had organized several charity events during these days and is looking forward to be an important part in Ningbo society to encourage the cooperation bet locals and foreigners in making Ningbo a successful city in business, investment and multicultural understanding.

Lang Yunlong is a CP SOCCER player at the Beijing Paralympics. He is the captain of the Chinse CP soccer team. Lang Yunlong was born in Zhenhai. He is the only athlete of Ningbo origin in the Paralympics.
When it is time for the CP soccer match, Lang Yunlong’s relatives are waiting in front of the TV, but the CCTV does not broadcast it live, which makes them feel a bit regretful. Though not being able to see his son on TV, Lang Jianguo’s father is full of expectations of his son.
Lang’s father: To take part in the Paralympics is to exercise himself as he is disabled. It would be great if he could win a medal.
